• MedTech and Biotech Deals Update – 7 July

    Good morning. Here is Matt Lowdon‘s weekly deals update, which focuses on fund raising and deal news from MedTech and Biotech. Congratulations to everyone involved and do let us know if we missed anything.

    Here are the top headlines we found;

    🔔 Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Pharmaceutical has teamed up with Gero, offering up to $250 million for the chance to develop antibodies against age-related disease targets identified by its partner’s AI-driven platform.

    🔔 Field Medical has generated another $35 million in venture capital funding for its cardiac pulsed field ablation system to support the launch of a pivotal trial.

    🔔 AN Venture Partners has closed its first fund, a $200 million vault for biotechs worldwide, with particular emphasis on bolstering Japan’s biopharma ecosystem.

    🔔 Catalio Capital Management has closed its fourth venture fund with more than $400 million that will be used to finance two new startups focused on immunology and inflammation. One is called Rhapsogen and the other has a holding name of TBD Pharma.

    🔔 Antler Bio, a UK-based. female-led AgriTech company using gene expression technology to improve dairy farming, has raised a $4.3 million funding round led by The First Thirty Ventures

    🔔 The pulsed field ablation developer Kardium Inc. has collected $250 million in funding to gear up for the commercial expansion of its Globe system, planned for later this year.

    🔔 York-based Aptamer Group has announced that it has raised £2m from a recent placing, which it will use to support investments in its manufacturing.

    🔔 Argon AI, a New York-based AI-native workspace purpose-built for life sciences, has raised $5.5 million in seed funding.

    🔔 Cwmbran-based Amotio Health has completed a pre-seed funding round of £810,000, led by a £500,000 equity investment from the Development Bank of Wales. The funding will be used to advance technology that will support better post-operative care and recovery times for joint-surgery patients throughout the global healthcare market.
